This restored 17th-century mining laboratory features a traditional Mexican temazcal steam bath. Set in tranquil Temascaltepec, 1.5 hours’ drive from Mexico City, it offers an outdoor pool and free WiFi. Valle de Bravo can be reached in an hour's drive.

Guests can still see the furnaces where silver and gold were melted down for the mine.
